Also, if anyone would like to make icons, create a background or banner, we'd love to hear from you. I am going to write up the profile page. Would someone be willing to send something to middleearthnews to announce the community to a wider audience?

Since I've been on LJ, five of my friends here have passed into the West -- Fiondil, Slipperieslope, Lorie945, Ethereal_hobbit, and _redpanda_. Something I was thinking about was that we all have different people 'friended', and have lost friends that others may not have known. Perhaps there could be a list on this site, gathered from all of us, of lost friends we'd like to have remembered?

I like this idea. I was thinking that, too, that we don't all have the same friends listed. For example, I don't know Fiondil or red panda at all (and don't forget frolijah_fan_54 on your list, too). And I know a lot of people knew ismenin (sp.?) though she was not on my flist.

I have been thinking about organization. There could be:

- a master page listing everyone remembered on this community. That would be a sticky page at top.
- a master page for each individual that could consist of a number of things like:
:: a bio of sorts that could contain all kinds of things and links. I'm thinking the format of the old crack_van rec format could be adapted to fit our needs.
:: posts about the person could be tagged with the person's name
:: links to other posts and resources about the person

We would need to have volunteers to do the organizing and putting together of things. I know I'd like to do one for thamiris, the first person whose lj I read.

Yep. The use of tags is the basic building block for organization. Even if we don't go any further than that, if we remember to tag (and mods regularly review the tagging) we should be good.

_redpanda_ was among my first LJ friends--she found my Bingo Bolger Baggins' LJ before I had interacted with anyone and friended him and thus brought him into the wild Middleearth Sockpuppet Theater. She and I didn't always get along, but I was crushed when she died so young and am so grateful to her for welcoming me when I was a newbie. She was part of my crew before I found the hobbit posse you and I share. *hugs*

I really like this image, both for the content and the style. It actually makes me wonder if we might commission a drawing ourselves. I was thinking that we might persuade dreamflower02 or another artist to make one. What do you think?
